Comparison

A delivered abstract, or a register that stays right.

Prophia is a real, well-funded AI lease abstraction platform, and a good one. What it delivers is structured lease data: an abstraction. Provenance is something adjacent and different: a verified lease register that keeps living after the extraction is done. This page draws that line honestly — including the case where Prophia is the better fit.

The category difference

Abstraction is a delivery

An abstraction hands you structured data at a point in time. It does not carry a fact through amendment supersession, recompute the obligations that depend on it, or record who approved the value and when. Once it lands in your systems, keeping it right is on you.

A register is a living record

Provenance keeps five explicit fact states, append-only history, named human verification, and derived obligations that go stale and recalculate when a governing term moves. The record does not freeze at delivery — it stays correct because it is built to notice when it is not.

What the register keeps that an abstract cannot

  • State on every fact. Unverified, verified, derived, superseded, stale — so anyone downstream can tell a checked number from a proposed one without asking.
  • Append-only history. A changed term supersedes the old value; it never overwrites it. The earlier reading stays readable, with its citation, forever.
  • Named verification. A person approves each fact, and their name and timestamp attach to it. Accountability is data, not a meeting.
  • Recalculating obligations. Deadlines are derived from verified terms. When an amendment moves a governing term, everything downstream is flagged stale and recomputed — with the rule and inputs shown.
  • Ownership that stays with you. The record belongs to the owner organization permanently. Managers, counsel and brokers get property-scoped guest access that you can revoke at any time.

When Prophia is the better fit

If you have a large one-time backfile — hundreds of leases — and what you want is a delivered abstract of that stack rather than an ongoing register, an abstraction platform is the right purchase. Say so plainly: we would tell you the same on a call. The two are not mutually exclusive, either; an abstracted backfile can seed a register.

When Provenance is the better fit

If the question is not "what does this lease say today" but "will this record still be right after the next amendment, the next manager, the next refinance" — that is the register's job. Owners with 25–250 active leases, lean asset-management teams, and lenders or auditors who ask where numbers came from.

Audit one lease free

Send us a single lease with its amendments. We extract it, verify it, and return a findings report: what is wrong, what it is worth, and the page each conclusion came from. If the report finds nothing, you have a clean lease and it cost you one document.
